Environment and Economics

Economic development, but not at the cost of environmental degradation is the need today. Both are equally important for the people of every country. However, we can have many instances of economic development especially in developing countries that have negative impacts on environment qualities.

NERI believes that economic development should be carried out together with conservation of environmental quality. It is important firstly because many environmental goods which are once regarded free  have now become a resource of economy. secondly, economic development activities should have two way linkages between ecological system and economic system in order to assess the overall costs and benefits; and thirdly, a gradual shift can be observed in policy development towards environmental protection.

NERI has a committed team which holds expertise on assessing issues in the field of environment, economic growth and development, social welfare etc. in terms of both quality and quantity.
